Summary
Blue Tide’s re-refinery in Baytown, Texas is fully operational and is looking for a Sr. Rail Logistics Coordinator ready to join a dedicated, experienced team to learn and grow in an exciting sustainability focused industry. We are seeking a detail-oriented teammate to manage the movement, tracking, and documentation of railcar shipments in support of our operations. This role serves as the primary point of contact between our facility, Class I and short line railroads, customers, and internal stakeholders — ensuring railcars move efficiently, disruptions are resolved quickly, and shipment records stay accurate. The position suits candidates who are comfortable juggling multiple shipments at once and building strong working relationships with railroad partners. This position will report to the VP, Sales & Operations Planning.

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitor inbound and outbound railcars to ensure shipments are moving according to plan; proactively identify and resolve delays, stalls, or service disruptions.
  • Coordinate daily with Class I railroads, short lines, and other transportation partners to schedule, track, and expedite railcar movements.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date railcar and shipment records in a transportation management system (TMS).
  • Create and maintain shipping patterns in transportation management system (TMS).
  • Ensure all shipments have a sales order/purchase order number issued by customer service before scheduling shipments.
  • Prepare and submit shipment documentation, including waybills, and shipment/status reports.
  • Create and manage "trouble tickets" or service requests with railroads to resolve missing, misrouted, or delayed cars.
  • Track and manage demurrage and detention charges; review, dispute, and reconcile invoices as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with railroads, customers, and transportation vendors to support smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (operations, plant/terminal staff, sales, and customer service) to align rail shipments with production and delivery schedules.
  • Analyze transportation costs, railcar cycle times, and service performance to identify efficiency and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with railway safety standards, shipment regulations, and company policies across all logistics activities.
  • Submit and confirm rail nominations to receiving terminals.
  • Update management on problem loads and what actions have been taken; update suppliers and receiving terminals on status of railcars.
  • Monitor daily railcar trace report; verify that railcars have arrived at terminal or returned to supplier and manage communication.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years of rail logistics experience, preferably with bulk commodities.
  • Basic knowledge of rail systems, rail patterns, industry regulations, and railway safety standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and communication channels.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work in a team and as a team player.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve shipment disruptions and service issues.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to make discretionary judgments and decisions quickly and accurately.
